Dear Collectors,
A few months ago I was invited to work on a very interesting assignment, design a wood engraving for the Suntup letterpress publication of Edgar Allen Poe's, The Tell Tale Heart. The result was a beautiful letterpress book, printed by Jerry Kelly, featuring my original wood engraving.
At first I approached this project with more literal ideas about what I thought The Tell Tale Heart represented. Soon I went in a different direction and decided to create an image that depicted the horror and twisted humor of the story. This seemed best served by showing the old man, with his bothersome eye. The result of this collaboration was an edition of 200 letterpress books. In addition to the wood engraving created for the frontispiece of “The Tell-Tale Heart” book, 50 Chine collé prints were created. Half of these were given to the publisher, the rest have mysteriously disappeared. The book sold out in three hours! To see the finished collaboration CLICK HERE
Although copies of the book are no longer available I am offering limited quantities of my Chine collé print for purchase. This is an original print sized at 3x4 inches and handmade on Japanese tissue and Mulberry paper. If you would like to purchase a print please contact me at rosemaryfcovey@gmail.com
There will be more projects like this one in the future. I will be sending you examples of other very limited editions, in a similar vein. Do not wait these go fast!
